The North American Fishing Club has given the REEL KEEL their seal of approval with an 85% approval rating.
"First time I have used the Reel Keel lure here in southern Baja Mexico, and we had terrific success. Fishing is slow right now, and most Captains are just scratching their heads, trying to find a fish or two. I fish with a retired commercial Captain, who has over 50 years experience here on the East Cape of Baja. As I told you over the phone, we had fished over half a day, and trolled over 30 miles without a strike. None of the 'normal' lures were working. After 8 or 9 lure changes during the morning, I tried your Reel Keel, and within 15 minutes we had a 20 lb dorado on. In the next hour, the Reel Keel was struck 7 more times, with 5 more hook-ups. Four Dorado, and a small tuna. My Captain, "Boni" of La Ribera, Baja, Mexico, made several comments about how successful that lure was. After the third strike in a row, he asked if I had any more of the Reel Keel lures. By the end of the day, Boni was studying that lure as I drove home." - Russell Fritz
"It’s been a long, long time I’ve seen a plug with the fish catching action built in that I see in the Reel Keel. I think this one will be around a long time." - Luke Clayton, professional Fisherman (read the rest of the review here
"Reel Keel Lures, from Kiko Fishing, were built to impart action that makes fish pounce. Lots of thought went into the action, and also the look." - Mark Marquez at New Jersey Fishing Reports (read the rest of the review here)
"These floating crank bait plugs are touted as "the only lure with the keel" and this single feature makes them do some really cool things. I found that a slow or fast crank produced a very realistic side to side wiggle that imitated live bait well. These are very beefy, but buoyant lures, and need a consistant crank to keep them submerged. I also found that a little jerk in the reeling motion produced a quick deep dive with a left or right hook which added to the realism from time to time." - Terry Howard at Central Florida Fishing Reports (read the rest of the review here)
"Great design, easy to use and really works. Love the casting distance and is great for trolling. Keeps its lifelike swimming action at all speeds. There is really no wrong speed when trolling."-Justin Senf
"I found that this lure does everything it said it would do. I used it in fresh water and saltwater. It works well with good action. I caught 1 Large Mouth Bass working it about 2 feet under in a bad area. I caught 2 Reds working it like a top water on just 3 cast."-Michael Covan
"I took the lure out of the package, put it on a rod and started casting. On the second cast I got a strong hit from a largemouth Bass."-James Pygott Sr
"Great fun watching the action and seeing the big ones hit it hard!"-Richard Thompson
"Better action than I've had from a lure of this type in the past."-Billy R. Nicks
"Due to the SEVERE drought here in Texas, I haven't been able to use the Reel Keel lure more than once. Our Lakes are extremely low. That being said, I really like the performance of it. The lure is made of HIGH QUALITY materials. The action is great. I can't wait to use the Reel Keel lure when we get some rain. I HIGHLY recommend this lure. I expect GREAT things from it."-Christopher Evan
"It seemed to get hits in all kinds of weather - kept me from changing due to it being sunny or overcast."-Dan Standfill
"Can be fished like a crank bait under the surface or like a buzz bait top water. Had good results fishing early morning and late afternoon."-Charles Fuselier
"The lure has realistic action that calls in fish. The keel keeps it up and give great action."-Aaron Dove
